The Alimini Lakes
Alimini Lakes, located north of Otranto, are among the most beautiful natural areas of Salento. The comparison with the ocean paradises is not risky, seeing the fine white sand of the coast.
In the inner part the two lakes, that once were united, offer a very particular scenario. The Big is fed by the sea, the Small is fresh water.
The nature that extends in these areas is presented in its simplest beauty, offering the possibility of excursions always fascinating to lovers of flora and fauna.
Among the most famous beaches near the Alimini Lakes is the Bay of the Turks, protagonist of the assault of Otranto in the fifteenth century. This beach, still free, is now included among the 100 places to be safeguarded in Italy.
